The Season of Goodwill

You know, over the past year, reading though my blog, I do realise that I've spent quite a lot of time complaining about my 'owner' Gail, and not being truly appreciative.

Well today, as it's the season of goodwill, I want to redress the balance and sign off for the year by telling you about a couple of nice things she's done for me in the past few days. Examples of how sometimes she can be kind and thoughtful.

You've all heard about my sensitive paws. Over the weekend we had a little snow in Aberdeen and it all turned very icy. By Monday, the pavements were all so hard and jagged that it really hurt to walk anywhere.

So what did Gail do? She consulted the tide tables for Aberdeen harbour and next thing I knew I was being whisked off to the beach for a run on the sand at low tide, the only place with no snow and ice.
It started off sunny, but then a mist came down and in the low winter light it all looked very atmospheric, I think you'll agree.
Then we got lots more snow , which looked pretty, but was too deep for my little legs. At least it was soft on the paws and so Gail dug a path to the street and took me out.

A neighbour came round with a Christmas gift, but Gail was busy, so she put it down and then went out. This is what she found when she returned to the house.

She was VERY cross.

But I was forgiven (as I always am in the end) and even given a proper Christmas treat.

So, a Very Merry Christmas to all my lovely friends, and, dogs, please be nice to your humans over the holiday season, they really do try their best you know....

Dear Hamish
We quite agree...Gail is a superb human! (Except that her judgement of which soccer team to support next year is questionable...we are NOT so confident about 'her' team here!...South Africa is flailing badly in its ability to present a reasonable team. But we'll be supporting them anyway too! You and I can cheer from the loosing goal side)
Please do us a favour and send Gail all our warmest wishes. Have a truly awesome break and festive season! (Not too much Whiskey now!...hic!) We'll catch up 'next year'!

After a trip to Aberdeen beach in this weather you deserve more than one wee nip of Gods amber nectar to warm you up. From the photos it looks to me as though you were the only sentient beings out and about.
If they talk about a trip out to the Falls of Feugh just run!

Yes, Hamish, I heartily agree with Max that Gail is a keeper! She has gone above and beyond to make you comfortable in the snowy weather and even forgave you for opening her Christmas gift. (My Mom was quite cross when she discovered I'd opened - and devoured - about 4 mint KitKat bars that Eric's mom had brought from across the big pee.)

As lovely as your neighborhood is with all the snow, our all-time favorite photo - one that caused my typist to explode with laughter - was that fine portrait of you enjoying a wee dram by the tree. I'll be right over with the shortbread.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Your pal,

Petey

Wooos Hamish! I would say the human is still learning, after all of these years you always have to train. And how could she possibly get cross form woo getting the present that was left on the ground for you? She was just jealous that she did not get it first.

Hamish! I am shocked that you would open Gail's gift and eat choccies! Bad stuff for you, yummy for Gail. As my Mom would say, "You know better than that!"

Hamish, we are forecasted for a huge winter storm for the next few days, starting tomorrow morning. So we are in for the duration, but we are all set with goodies and food.

Gail is the best in my book. She takes good care of you in spite of your complaints! We wish you both the Happiest Christmas, and a healthy New Year!

Kisses,
Your pal Stella

Gail does sound pretty good to me! She seems a bit more trainable than my own humans, I must say!

P.S. Were the chocolates good? They look delicious!

Gail really looks after you well, but beware of chocolate, I've heard it's not recommemded for us doggies.
Dad says Gail is a really good photographer too, he really loved the photos she took at the beach.
Have a really good Christmas with Gsil, and don't drink too much !

We are not even going to pretend to be "caught up" in our reading. Not by a long shot. But come January, we have every intention of spending however long it takes to read what we've missed. But in the meantime, we want to wish you a wonderful holiday season and hope that you and Gail and family all enjoy your time together. It's a wonderful time of year. And we truly realize what wonderful friends you've become.

Looking forward to a new year full of new adventures.
Love

A nice nip of scotch to wash down the forbidden bon bons. Brilliant.

What a nice mom to take you to the beach. Now she just needs to get a sleigh for you so that your little feet don't have to touch the ground on winter walkies.

We think Gail has been wonderful to you this year - and that trip to the beach was just a superb gift!!

Our Mom says Gail was only mad about the candy because she was afraid the chocolate would make you ill, but you got a great treat in the end.

Merry Christmas,
XOXO

Hello from Canada Hamish,

Just thought I would say hi and introduce myself. My name is Byron and I live in Ontario, Canada.
I hope you had a great Christmas and got lots of wonderful goodies.
Your snow looked very pretty and must have been fun to play in. We did not get any here. (boo hoo)

Hi Hamish! I hope you had a very good Christmas. Maybe a new coat? I think Gail is just the bestest. She plowed a trail for you in the snow. I agree, the best celebration is a wee dram with best friends, and it looks like Gail is a true bestest friend. What are you doing for Hogmanay? More cuddles by the fire with friends? Whatever it is, I hope you have a great new year!
sniffies,
Bonnie

Hi Hamish
We hope you had the best Xmas - sorry we are late - our entire blog roll disappeared and we are still trying to locate it!
We cannot blame you Hamish for seizing the moment with the Xmas parcel - we know Gail will always forgive you cos let's face it she has had fourteen years of practice!
Your poor sensitive paws in this weather though - how thoughtful of Gail to take you to the beach!
Now not too many wee drams Hamish - remember you have still to see in the New Year!
Did you get a new coat for xmas?
love and kisses

We bet Gail was cross... we just hope you weren't sick. That was a lot of chocolate, Hamish!

Hey! Did you notice we're making good on what we said? It's January and we're catching up. Didn't realize until right now that we'd already commented on this post weeks ago. Guess the holiday didn't help the brain cells necessary for meaningful memory. Oh well. We enjoyed it the second time around, too.

Onward ho..
