Take your dog to work day (unofficial)

Well I've obviously been successful in making clear my dissatisfaction at being left alone at home, and today I got taken in to the University for the whole day.

I don't understand why I can't go to work with Gail all the time.

After all, I helped her sort out some samples for analysis.
I thoroughly checked the room where she works at present.
I had imagined it would be full of amazing scientific instruments, particle accelerators and the like, but what I saw was mostly kitchen blenders and clapped out ovens, key tools for the plant scientist apparently.

Gail tells me that the University of  Aberdeen is over 500 years old and it seems that some of their equipment might have been there from Day One (and some of the PhD students....)

At lunchtime we went for a walk in the Cruickshank botanic gardens, just outside the laboratories. Aren't these flowers just weeds though?
I stopped at the pond for refreshment.
For some reason I wasn't allowed to investigate the most interesting looking area....
But please don't suppose that I'm complaining. I had a lovely day meeting students from all over the world, and I was mostly well-behaved (apart from a little incident in the tea room, where my attempts to join in the discussion were not properly appreciated.....)

I do hope I get to go again soon.

Hamish, we think you should go to work with Gail a lot more. We are quite sure you brighten up Aberdeen University with your very presence.
You certainly looked as though you were being very helpful indeed.
We cannot imagine that you would be anything other than well behaved.
Some humans, we have found, do not appreciate us dogs joining in with their conversation.
This is their loss!

Hi Hamish! You did a great job exploring all that!
500 years old? 500? Amazing!

you sure must be a scholar hanging out at the University today. The universities around here would never allow us except if we were a "working dog". That is one pretty and old school

Wooos! I think a workplace doggie is just the thing! I work with Mommy all of the time, or at least keep her feet warm! Mom says that all plants are weeds somewhere to someone!

Pee Ess Woo- I do not think the north sea would be quite as calm as the Florida ocean, but you might have fun bouncing around, I don't really like too many waves, makes it hard to stay up on the cushions!

Hamish, we think it is only appropriate that you should go to the University with Gail. It's a pity that humans don't appreciate your assets....among them your focused attention to details. How many of them investigate the lab from your perspective?

Perhaps with more experience they'll understand the importance of your presence, and they may even learn to understand "dog". (Did they give you ANY treats?) We hope so.

Love, and supportively,
Jake and Fergi xxoo (who got to TOUR a university this summer... we felt very important! and privileged!)

You were a working dog. Perhaps, now we can call you Hamish the Westie, PHD.

Hamish
You looked so good working in the office, you had to spice it up some, and added some enjoyment. Thats so cool that you got to go with her to the office. You looked as if...you belonged right there all the time :-)

I think you should go with Gail every day! You know so many things about Gail's work, its just a shame to waste that.
Thank you for your comment today about the deer cottage. Yes, I know it wouldn't suit me, but I just get sort of bored when my Mom is too busy to take me walking. You called me a fantasist and no one ever did that before. I don't think it is such a bad thing to deal in a little fantasy now and then, do you, Hamish?

Kisses,
Stella

Hey there Hamish
You got to go?! Hey that's fantastic man! Im so pleased your wishes were granted and it seems like you had a really interesting day too!
That university must have a wealth of material to blog about!....and by the way the definition of a weed is "...an unwanted plant". Those plants seem well cared for, so they can't be weeds.
Hows your paw now, by the way?
Lots of licks

ps Wish you were here to help me sort out the horde of canines!

Hamish, you are so well behaved that you should be able to go to work more often. Looks like you did a great job.

We'd love to come have our photos made in the heather of our homeland, but this year our parents built 2 miles of fence on our farm - no vacations for us!!

Have a wonderful day.

How exciting that you got to go to work for a day Hamish, so cool! Lovely photos of your day trip too....Mother has gone into meltdown over that one of you near the flowers, she's oohing and aahing, says she's gonna swap al four of us for a Westie....wait....aaargh!
We are wondering if Gal knows our Dad's cousin....she's a micobiologist in Aberdeen but Mum can't remember where she works.....maybe at the hospital instead.... we'll have to do some snooping!
Have a relaxing weekend :D

Look at all that lovely mud! And she wouldn't let you roll in it? Bummers. I'm glad you got to go to work with your girl. I know she must have been missing you a lot now that she is working all the time. While you were putzing about in the lab, did you find any tasty lab rats to chase?
toodles,
