Home guard

Here's me on duty, guarding the property in Aberdeen. As you can see, for the times when I'm not at my post, we have a special sign, warning would-be invaders that inside this house resides a Westie.

Some folk question whether a dog as cute as me can be an effective burglar deterrent. Especially when the sign implies (wrongly) that I wear a kilt and play the bagpipes. 'Dad's Army' fans may wonder whether defense of the home front should be left to citizens of pensionable age.

Fortunately, guard dog is not a job for which one requires references. Should that change, I have no doubt that several local vets will happily vouch for the fact that my bite can be every bit as good as my bark!

PS I am quite ashamed about the state of our windows, and have set Gail to work on the paintwork, now that the thesis thing has been handed in.

Hamish, I can vouch for the toughness of you terriers having had a handsome black Scottie for 16 years! He didn't know the meaning of "giving up" and I'm quite sure you don't either! Your Mom, family and friends can feel very safe with you about! I know I would!

Kisses,
Stella

I am sure that your bite is bigger than your bark. Mine is just the opposite, no guard dog am I! That is Scampi's job.

We'd be scared to come in....you look like a ghostie! Wooooo!
And do you mean you are not also a handy-dog? Doing chores in and around the home, like touching up the paintwork??
Mind-you....the best we can manage is a spot of gardening for which we receive no thanks whatsoever!
Pfff....humans....never happy!

Please send Dr.Gail over here next. The living room of our condo needs a new paint job. Mommy says it needs one desperately.
Glad to see you are still at work guarding the homefront. I'm the main guard here too.

Obviously any one who thinks a terrier is not a guard dog has never seen the inside of their mouth.

Hamish

We have a similar sign. "Watch out Terriers about".

Mind you I don't really think it is necessary to have it, if anybody comes near our front door we let them know of our presence.

Guard dog? What's a guard dog? Am I supposed to do something different than lie comfortably and look out the window, looking perfectly adorable like you? Really?

I think I need a coach! Wanna be my coach?

You know we didn't even notice the windows when we were looking at you and your sign on the window. Now that you mentioned it, we think it gives it all the more rustic look!

We also left an award for you on our blog at www.tuffytails.blogspot.com

Hi Hamish
We missed you - we did try waving to you over in Torridon but we fear you didnt see us for the mist!!
We think you make a very good guard dog - you are very responsible. The sign really doesnt do you justice at all!!!
Keep up the good work.

Just popped over to see our old pal! We havent arrived on Skye yet in the slideshow, that was the trip up where we had every kind of weather!! Once on Skye we did have intermittent periods of sun on the first two days - pretty awful thereafter. Some of the pics were very dark and some were stunning - thats the beauty of Scotland! We did look for you through the mist across the sea!!!
Just back from todays walk - lovely and sunny and now we are soaked through!!!
Hamish you must get a wee cbox!
