I want to be carried

Quite properly, you are wondering where I am in the picture above.

Lurking behind a tree perhaps? Hidden in the undergrowth? No. Not at all. I was at the time stuck at home, alone, with only my itchy paws to chew.

The picture is of Bennachie. A hill near Aberdeen where Gail went yesterday for a long walk with friends. She says I couldn't manage twelve miles any more, and some of her fitter friends think I'm annoying because I'm too slow, and like sniffing things too much, and that anyway my paws are a bit sore at the moment so it would be better for me to stay behind.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks. For one supposedly so well educated, Gail can be weak on lateral thinking.

If the walk is too long, why cannot I be carried some of the way? Gail is strong, I weigh less than 10 kg (just). Everyone would, I am sure, enjoy my company.

Can anyone out there recommend a rucksack suitable for carrying a small(ish) dog? Like the ones they have for babies, but suited to someone with four legs and a different shape? If so, please please please let me know!

And you should be carried. Check out Scottish Terrier and Dog News at http://scottishterrierdogs.blogspot.com/ If you scroll down an article or two there is one on Woofstock. It shows a few different means of conveyance for doggies. Hope you find something soon so you won't be left at home again.

Oh Hamish
How could Gail leave you at home!! To use the excuse that it is too far!! You are so fit - especially if we may say, for a more mature dog!
Yes you could certainly be carried for some of the way - whether you would be happy to be carried is another thing!
What about one of those wee cutsie strollers and Gail could just push you up the hill!!!
No we cant see you in one of those either!
Oh well sometimes it is nice to just stay home, put your paws up and watch the world go by via the window.
You do look pretty cute doing that!
Oh and thanks for reassuring Martha that she was not born in the 12th century.
It is good to have an older wiser dog for a friend.
love and kisses

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be carried! :-)
I can pull you in my cart when I get bigger!
All the best,

Hamish! I saw a Cairn terrier at the beach in exactly the kind of rucksack (or backpack, for us Yanks) that you're talking about. I'll try to find it online for you.

Meanwhile, I've taken your as always excellent advice and bought several boxes of Chewgars for the big day. Check out my bloggie for the update.

Your pal,

Petey

Hamish, have Gail check this one out:
http://www.amazon.com/Kyjen-Outward-Backpack-Carrier-Assorted/dp/B000CQG46G/ref=pd_sbs_k_1

It's similar to the one we saw at the beach. Amazon only ships to the US so if you're unsuccessful finding one in the UK, we could order it and ship it to Scotland for you.

Your pal,

Petey

Ciao bello Hamish!

I vote for being included on the walk AND for being carried! La mia ragazza checked Google and found this online store that had some interesting doggie backpack carriers: http://www.doghaus.co.uk/

Hmmmm ... I wonder if they make carriers for long-legged Airedales. I, Lucia, would relish being toted around mia citta like Cleopatra!!! Heeeeeeee!!

Tanti baci!
Lucia

PeeEss: I hope your itchy paws are better soon!!

Hello Hamish!

On the comment from Lilly,Piper, Carrleigh and Java they suggested looking at carriers shown on the Scottie blogspot. The video on the page, showed a Westie driving a Jeep. Now that might be something you could do anytime Gail and her pals are going a distance. Just borrow a Jeep and take off.

For me, Hamish, I like a little quiet time myself. Just time to think quietly and not have to respond to voices. Your spot at the window looks perfect to me.

Kisses,
Stella

Hamish, you're too cute to walk anyway! I have a friend that puts his Jack Russell in a jogging stroller (pram?). They have 3 wheels and could easily go over more rugged terrain!

Just be careful what you ask for. Where we live, they could strap a backpack on your back and make you carry the humines refreshments. But if, by the way, you find out about a suitable rucksack, let me (Jake) know. I have a tendency to sit down during breaks in the hike. Perhaps they'd assume I'm tired and need to be carried, myself. Hmmmmm. Never considered that. Not a bad idea....

Just saw Petey's link. Heading there now!
