Well I’ve had a bit of time to think about things whilst Gail’s been away.
The issue of height differences between couples has arisen a couple of times recently in the dog blogging community, I note. Especially when a smaller male dog seeks to pair up with a loftier lady.
As usual, and coming from one of the so-called ‘vertically challenged’ breeds, I have an opinion! Controversial? Maybe.
It is my contention that this is one area of life where we dogs could take a lead from our two-legged friends. Think Nicholas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni. Or Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. When the male half possesses a certain charisma, lack of height is surely not a handicap.

Good morning Hamish
We could not agree more!! As girls with little legs we often feel we are overlooked for the more leggy ladies!
Well we, like you, are completely adorable!
Hamish you are wise beyond your size and appreciate that any relationship has to look beyond the initial physical attractions.
There must be common interests, shared values and matters of debate to keep the whole relationship alive!
We like sniffing and exploring like you - we like to argue over toys!
We may be vertically challenged but who cares - we can still have fun.
Hamish, Bailey wants your phone number............
love
Martha xxx (Bailey too!)
Ahhh Hamish, your personality overcomes any size difference, and your gentlemanly manner, just makes my heart pitter-patter. For me and Snoop, well, the height thing was minor compared to our ages, but, as long as I got what he wants..and we have so much in common, like napping and eating....
I could have been yours.

I feel you are absolutely correct in saying that a small/tall dog, in a friendly relationship, would be fine. However, where there might be children (pups) involved, that is quite another matter, and I am always for like sized animals to breed if they must!
Kisses,
Stella
GGRRRRrrrr, Hamish dear, is Bailey trying to make the moves on you?? She must not realize that I, an Airedale, am the leggy creature that has turned your head and your thoughts to "size does not matter"! If you want to play the field I'll understand, but I will then have to also put myself back on the market. Don't leave a pooch hangin'.
XO-BabyRD ps-Did you know Bailey was a girlpup? I had NO idea!

Hamish, persistence pays off....Snoop swam the Atlantic to prove his devotion to sweet Kira and now they couldn't be happier! And just look at Yoda....so titchy, but so very wise is he :D
Oh, and we have a question for you....do you think Gail would know why the sand on the bed of Findhorn Bay is gold? See our Easter post here: http://dughallmorbeagles.blogspot.com/2009/04/bumper-weekend-post.html
