Max's World Tour - the Highland leg

Long time readers of this blog will already be familiar with my Parallel Universe theory (see 29 July 2009). Well toss a few extra dimensions of quantum superposition into the mix and you will find yourself on Max's World Tour. Welcome!

You all know Max, don't you? My fine, handsome, loyal, noble friend from South Africa, the star of a quite wonderful blog. Well I am thrilled to be able to tell you that, wholly unexpectedly, he dropped in to see me this week, and accompanied me on a ramble in the Highlands.

Now it has always been my contention that a Westie is the perfect embellishment to the Scottish landscape. But, you know, looking at these pictures, I fear I have a rival. (Please don't let on to the Scottish Tourist Board, our contract negotiatons are still in the balance).

Well we had SO much to talk about, Max and I, and as we are both quite elderly gents, we interrupted our stroll with frequent rests.

Max told me all about his family back home, and especially about his Mom, who he adores and wants to thank over and over again for being so kind and taking such good care of him.

Of course, before Max left, I invited him in for a wee dram of Highland Park. It was a poignant moment, as I fear it will be Max's last visit to Scotland. My paws were shaking badly so no more photos were taken.

When I took Max back to the airport in Inverness, I have to report that he showed signs of being touch hungover. Well, we were both tired and emotional, and a tear or two was shed as he boarded the plane.

PS We would like to thank Petey's Mom in New York for her invaluable assistance with this post!

Oh Hamish,
What a wonderful post - you made our mum's eyes leak!
So lovely to see you and Max in the Highlands of Scotland.
Two wonderful old men together sharing a dram - we just know how much that will have meant to Max and his family.
We too wanted to mark this very special day but could only manage a mere sidebar link!
We really need to get our mum more skilled up.
Love you lots

Hamish you are a sweet, emotional old thing. People might think that underneath that gruff Caledonian exterior there really lurks a sensitive eternal puppy.

Dear Hammish, oh where do I begin?I just caught up on your bloggie for the past several posts and am just SO ashamed that I didn't come over sooner and wish you well with your health tests & vet visits. The fact that you have had those nasty fits is very disturbing to me. I mean, only a year ago you escorted me to Asta's Spring Fling in NYC. I can't think of you as old!!
And then I read that your mommy got her job with the help of your blog! That is actually pretty cool and you know she really appreciates you by the nice things she does for you...like your snazzy new monogrammed jacket!
Gotta go now. Happy Valentine's Day!!

Hay-mish. We're afraid we fell asleep on the Big Bed after Max visited us, and only now are catching up with some of the later places that he visited. We're glad to have caught a glimpse of his visit with you, 'cause it appears that it was one perfect visit. His memories are going to be sharp and clear (despite the imbibition you described). Those photos of the two of you in the countryside were amazing. We loved seeing you watching over resting Max. What an honor it was for him to visit you and your wonderful country.

We hope the rest of your Valentine's Day was as wonderful as Max's visit appeared to be.

Love

Ahh Uncle Hamish! Did you see? One of the Rocky Creek Scottie pups will be named HAMISH after you!!! I am so pleased - as I said, if I was wearing buttons no doubt they'd be busting!

This is worth breaking out the Highland Park again for a toast to our wee laddie and some serious back-patting!

Your pal and fellow uncle,

Uncle Petey
