There's so much stuff I'd like to talk about to you today - this excellent book I've been reading, my views on rugby and national identity, your comments on my last post, the woeful state of our garden, the interesting experience of participating in Mango Minster....
But the truth is I'm feeling too exhausted to blog this morning and, reluctantly, I am going to hand over to Gail.
Gail speaks: Hamish is an old dog, and his health is deteriorating. Last night we were up for several hours after he suffered a fit, the second within a week. He eventually settled down to sleep, and this morning seems more or less OK, but tired and dazed. This is a new problem for Hamish and we are off to the vet later today.

Oh Gail & Hamish
I am sorry to read your post - these fits can be nasty.
Harry, my dearly loved last basset, suffered from fits periodically throughout his life and more so as he got older.
I never did get used to them - they were distressing for me and totally disorientating for Harry.
Hamish will just want to sleep somewhere warm and quiet.
Actually this would be good for you too Gail. It is so upsetting.
Both of you take care and we will check back to see how you get on at the vet.
love from us all xxxxx
Poor, poor Hamish. Even a Aberdonian is allowed to start taking life a wee bit easier at some stage.
Dear Hamish-dog
Mom just told me about your latest bloggie post. Just wanted to send you some 'feel better' thoughts.

Hey there Hamish my lad
Oh dear...seems like we are all in the wars these days. You've got to get better now, buddy!!!...you have the 'distinguished' flag that must be flown.
We are thinking of you and Gail. Hope the vet finds the problem quickly and that you will soon be your spritely self again.
Lotsoflicks

Hamish,
We have tears in our eyes just thinking of you being ill, but you have lived a long full life. We trust that Gail will do what is best for you and hope and pray that the Vet can help you combat these fits. They must be very disturbing for both you and Gail.
XOXO

Ah Hamish, you just take it easy this morning—sleep late, have a nice cuppa, then a little stroll around the garden and another nap or two.
Our Wire Fox Terrier Keddy suffered from fits which were greatly helped by prednisone. A word of warning though, it did greatly increase her pee production.
Hope you get a good prognosis from the vet today.
Your pal,
Petey
Hamish, I hope that the vet can figure out how to make you feel better. We've had experience with fits here and it's no fun. Take it easy and enjoy a few extra naps in the sunshine!

Hi Hammish! We're sorry you've become afflicted with 'geezer glitches'. Puffy gets the occasional twitches, headbanging, tight circles, falling down spells too. We just mush him up close to something to im-mobilize him and she pets him and coos to him till it's over. She's thinking it's like a mini stroke or something as he didn't have siezures when he was younger. She didn't take him to the vet. She's afraid they'll have some drastic diagnosis. He'll be 17 in a few days and wouldn't survive any kinda surgery anyways so she thinks it's best not knowing. I swear that's her answer to anything skeeree....stick yer head under a rock and maybe it will go away.
Anyways, I hope you get up to snuff soonest. Enjoy a warm day in bed and lotsa snuggies with Gail. I'll be pawrayin' for you to be back to pontificatin' on the state of the world in a day or two.
Lots of lovin',
Bonnie
Hamish! You are my best pal, I can't have you be sick! Do what the Vet tells you and get better soonest! Oh, I just wish we were not separated by so much ocean and miles. I would visit you everyday there was if I could.
Love and hugs,
Stella
Oh no...our paws are crossed and our thoughts are with you. Hang in there Hamish

Oh HAYmish (we want to promote the proper pronunciation, 'cause we will admit to having had it wrong for a long time). Moma just welled up in tears. We are so sorry to hear about your new, not at all welcome, involuntary behaviors. They are not foreign to our home (Moma's WFT Kizzy suffered from them for years and years). We hope they are something the vet can identify the cause of, and therefore figure out a good treatment for. We love you HAYmish. We want you strong and happy for lots and lots of more tours and toasts and totally brilliant posts. Rest. All of you.
We'll be checking back
Love
